What is the future of the ASH Centre?
We have great plans for our future! Our ongoing collaborations currently offer the Fort Wayne Community many opportunities for service organizations to flourish, even in slow economic times. Our Community Centre has the potential to house several health and wellness programs, including those focused on seniors. We intend to create an eco-friendly campus, with retention ponds to assist with water displacement in this neighborhood and a rain garden to create environmental stability and interest on the corner of Freeman and Taylor.
Our future holds many other possibilities. The World Baseball Academy will create an international hub for the Fort Wayne Community, not only for International Youth Baseball, but also for local businesses and schools. Coupled with the WBA is a plan for RBI-Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities, a program which would scholarship middle school aged youth for whom baseball may be only a distant dream.
The Field House presently houses many activities, but it has the potential to be more viable as a venue for area sports. Eco-friendly lights and a special turf would expand the Field House use to more activities.
